“Using Fiction to Reveal the Power of Incarcerated Women”
with Jean Trounstine & Stacey Borden

Jean Trounstine will discuss her 8th book and first novel Sounds Like Trouble To Me, a story of a correction officer who kills her abusive husband and finds herself on the other side of the law. Stacey Borden will join Jean to discuss how this work based on two true stories reveals the truth of women behind bars and building community to create change.
• Jean Trounstine is the author of eight books, an activist and educator, who has written extensively about the criminal legal system in America. She was the first-person world-wide to director a Shakespeare play behind bars and has won awards for her work directing eight plays in the women’s prison and writing about her work.
• Stacey Borden is the Founder and Executive Director of New Beginnings Reentry Services, Inc. (NBRS), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women returning to their communities after incarceration. Drawing from nearly 30 years of lived experience with incarceration, Stacey has become a nationally recognized advocate for criminal justice reform, restorative justice, and survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
