“May Day and the Fight for Shorter Hours”
with John Proctor
John Proctor of the Boston Labor Solidarity Committee will speak on a shorter work day – 6-hour day with no cut in pay and the history of shorter hours movements. He will also talk about the effect of technology on work schedules and the movement for a shorter work day and beyond.
• John Proctor is a lifelong labor movement activist, John has also had varied work experiences; from construction, telephone operator, stationary fireman in two hospitals, 3rd class steam engineer and elected executive board member (secretary-treasurer) and over 25 years as a second-class steam engineer at Boston Edison.
