Members and supporters are encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CCB Program Committee Meeting<\/strong> on Sunday, October 5th, 1pm at Community Church\u00c2\u00a0(following Sunday Service). The Program Committee meets monthly to discuss topics for the church&#8217;s Sunday services. Considering input\/suggestions from the congregation at large, the committee\u00c2\u00a0identifies and prioritizes potential speakers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.honkfest.org\"><strong>HONK! Festival<\/strong> <\/a>on Friday, October 10th, Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th in Davis and Harvard Squares. Across the country and around the world, a new type of street band is emerging. Acoustic and mobile, borrowing repertoire and inspiration from a diverse set of folk music traditions \u00e2\u20ac\u201c New Orleans second line brass bands, European Klezmer, Balkan and Romani music, Brazilian Afro Bloc and Frevo traditions, as well as the passion and spirit of Mardi Gras and Carnival\u00e2\u20ac\u201c these \u00e2\u20ac\u0153honkers\u00e2\u20ac\u009d all share a commitment to several core principles. Metaphorically speaking, they honk their horns for the same reasons motorists honk theirs: to arouse fellow travelers, to warn of danger, to celebrate milestones, and to just plain have fun. www.honkfest.org<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/310703762446618\/\">HONK! for $15<\/a> in Downtown Crossing on Friday October 10th at 3pm. Join activist brass bands from around the country for a Day of Action in the campaign to raise the minimum wage. From as far away as Seattle, Brooklyn and Montreal, these loud, colorful and fun-filled bands will use their powers of music and spectacle to bring the national fight for a $15\/hour minimum wage to the doorsteps of local Boston establishments still refusing to pay their workers a living wage, earn paid sick time, or form a union. www.honkfest.org\/honkfor15<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/neweconomyweek.org\/events\/winning-hearts-and-minds-anti-racism-feminism-and-new-economy\">Winning Hearts and Minds: Anti-racism, Feminism, and the New Economy<\/a> with Chris Crass at Paige Hall, Tufts University, Tuesday, October 14th, 6:30pm. Chris Crass, long time organizer, educator, and writer will lead a workshop to explore how we can create a more just and sustainable economy through multiracial, cross-class, feminist movement building. The event is part of New Economy Week, an opportunity explore what it would take to build the economy we need, one that works for people, place, and planet. Dinner provided.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1505223693055097\/\">Survival, Struggle, and Spiritual Healing: Creating Beloved Community in the Time of Ferguson<\/a> on Wednesday, October 15th at the First Baptist Church of Jamaica Plain, 6:30pm. In this conversation Reverend Osagyefo Sekou and Chris Crass will discuss experiences on the ground in Ferguson in light of the broader movement for a more just society. They will discuss strategies for healing and building community and its role in sustaining ourselves in our movement building work. As a group we will talk about Martin Luther King Jr.&#8217;s vision for a Beloved Community and explore means for bringing it in to being.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saccoandvanzetti.org\/sn_display1.php?row_ID=103\">Sacco and Vanzetti: The Italian Years<\/a>, A Piano Recital with Pianist\/Composer Mary Melnick at Community Church on Saturday, November 1st. at 5:30 PM.<\/p>\n<p>The Sacco and Vanzetti Commemoration Society and the Community Church of Boston are proud to present Mary Melnick in concert.
