{"id":1352,"date":"2014-10-03T09:16:30","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T16:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.communitychurchofboston.org\/home\/?p=1352"},"modified":"2014-10-03T16:13:16","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T23:13:16","slug":"minutes-sept-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.communitychurchofboston.org\/home\/newsletter\/minutes-sept-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Minutes of Board Meeting, 9\/11\/14"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Minutes of <\/strong><strong>CCB Board Meeting<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">September 11th, 2014<\/p>\n<p><strong>President\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Report:<\/strong> Dean Stevens and the Office Manager put together an email newsletter account and have been working on subscribing to Google for Nonprofits. The church is exploring a new internet provider and a new telephone company as well as new office furniture.<\/p>\n<p>A letter was received from Tom Campbell, the CCB lawyer who complimented us on our work and strongly suggested having separate offices for the Office Manager and for a future Minister or Congregational Director; the third and fourth floors are a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Last fall, the board approved an engineering study and to obtain an assembly permit. An architect will be hired to secure accurate footage by 2017, when the lease for the downstairs restaurant expires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Concerns:\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong> The Treasurer, Betsy Gynn, suggested putting the church archives under lock and discussed the need for more office space. She also stated that CCB is in good financial health. There will be several building-related repairs and projects undertaken as budgeted during the autumn months. The board approved the hiring and salary of the new Office Manager, Helen Matthews. The Treasurer, along with the Vice-President and Clerk will begin to streamline the bank accounts of the church.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prison Committee:<\/strong> Karla Rab has assumed leadership of the committee. She is expected to collect the notes written to incarcerated CCB members and friends and mail them, along with other items, to the prisoners. According to Karla, one other CCB member needs to be involved if the work of the committee is to progress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Committee:<\/strong> Dick Crowley announced that CCB Sunday programs have been scheduled through November. He stated the need for diversity, minority speakers, and an adequate balance between female and male speakers.
