Arnie was originally sentenced for the murder he committed in October 1971, when he was 18 years old. Speaking on his crime, he states, “I will never be able to return life to this man and my responsibility for his death can never be excused. I will never be able to erase the family’s pain or replace society’s loss in the early and tragic death of this man. What I can do is help by giving myself to any teenager, whose journey may be leading them down a similar path.”

While in prison, Arnie has received acclamation for his youth advocacy work and other positive contributions he has made to the cause of social justice. In the words of former City Councilman Felix Arroyo, “Rehabilitation is an immense and difficult process. For all of us even to change a habit takes so much focus and commitment from ourselves…and to change…the way you are and to be able to transform yourself is an amazing process. I look with amazement at Mr. King, who showed us (through his own behavioral process)…that, yes, this is possible.”

Supporters are asked to sign an online petition (http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/akfree07), and write Governor Patrick in support of Arnie’s effort:

Massachusetts State House, Rm 280,
email: constituent.services@state.ma.us
Gov.
